Latest News on Bangkok Coronavirus Situation
Thailand’s Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Friday announced a series of new measures aimed at limiting the spread of the coronavirus. The measures, many of which were already reported earlier, confirm that 18 provinces are now declared ‘red zone’ or highest control zones.
Latest Bangkok Coronavirus Updates
- Starting 1st April 2021, Thailand will implement significant relaxation of Covid-19 measures for the entry into the Kingdom as follows:
- For all travelers, Thais and non-Thais, fit to fly certificates are no longer required.
- Travelers from countries without Covid-19 variants, with the certificate of Covid-19 vaccine approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of Thailand, or approved by WHO, or authorised by The Public Health Ministry will be quarantined upon arrival in Thailand for at least 7 days.
- List of vaccines approved by the FDA, or approved by WHO, or authorised by The Public Health Ministry includes
(1) CoronaVac by Sinovac (approved by the FDA)
(2) AZD 1222 by AstraZenaca/Oxford (approved by the FDA)
(3) AZD 1222 by Siam Bioscience /AstraZeneca/Oxford (approved by the FDA)
(4) COV2.S by Johnson & Johnson (approved by the FDA)
(5) Tozinameran by Pfizer–BioNTech
(6) Covishield by Serum Institute of India
(7) mRNA-1273 by Moderna
- Travelers from countries without Covid-19 variants, without the vaccine certificate must be quarantined upon arrival in Thailand for at least 10 days.
- Travelers from countries with Covid-19 variants must be quarantined upon arrival in Thailand for at least 14 days.
- List of countries with Covid-19 variants, as of now, includes 11 countries with Covid-19 variants, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia, Kenya, Rwanda, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania and Ghana. The list of countries will be updated monthly on the Ministry of Public Health website (moph.go.th).
Older Bangkok COVID19 Updates
All other provinces are now ‘orange zones’ or high control zones. According to CCSA spokesperson Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin, no province is in lockdown and no curfew has been ordered, despite erroneous reports in Thai media. However, provincial governors have been given the power to authorize curfews if the situation in their province worsens. Some of the measures introduced for red zone provinces include:
- All bars, pubs, karaoke, and entertainment venues closed.
- Restaurants must close by 9 pm, no alcohol can be served.
- Restaurants can offer takeaway until 11 pm.
- Shopping malls must close by 9 pm.
- Convenience stores/supermarkets must close from 11 pm to 4 am.
- Schools and educational institutions closed.
- Events with more than 50 attendees not allowed.
- Amusement parks closed.
- Children’s play areas in malls closed.
- Gyms and fitness centers must close by 9 pm.
- Some of the measures introduced for orange zone provinces include:
- Mostly the same as above.
- Restaurants must close by 11 pm, no alcohol can be served.
- Shopping malls must close by 9 pm.
- Convenience stores/supermarkets must close from 11 pm to 4 am.
- Schools and educational institutions closed.
- Events with more than 50 attendees not allowed.
- Amusement parks closed.
- Children’s play areas in malls closed.
- Gyms and fitness centers must close by 9 pm.
- Provinces declared ‘red zones’:
- Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chonburi, Samut Prakan, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Samut Sakhon, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom, Phuket, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nonthaburi, Songkhla, Tak, Udon Thani, Suphanburi, Sa Kaeo, Rayong, and Khon Kaen.
- Provinces declared ‘orange zones’:
- All other provinces.
